The District 84 District Conference is our flagship event of the year — typically a Friday-Saturday gathering featuring keynote speakers, education workshops, the District Council business meeting, and the finals of our International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest.
Who attends
The conference draws around 200-400 attendees in a typical year:
- District officers (mandatory for District Council voting members)
- Club officers (most clubs send their President + VPE)
- Members preparing for district leadership
- Contest finalists and their supporting clubs
- Members who want education and community — open to all
Typical schedule
Friday
- Afternoon: Pre-conference workshops (paid add-on)
- Evening: Welcome reception, district trio remarks, opening keynote
Saturday
- Morning: District Council business meeting (officer voting, financial reports, year-in-review)
- Late morning: Education workshops (3-4 parallel tracks)
- Lunch: Hall of Fame recognition, DTM ceremonies
- Afternoon: International Speech Contest + Evaluation Contest finals
- Evening: Awards banquet
Registration
Registration opens 3-4 months ahead of conference. Members, guests, and non-members are all welcome.
FAQ
I'm new — should I go? Yes. First-year members often say the conference is what turned them from "trying out Toastmasters" into committed members.
Do I have to attend the business meeting? Only if you're a District Council member. Most attendees skip it for the workshops.
Is meals included? Most years: continental breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee; banquet is a separate ticket.
