What an incredible few days!

Norma, Richard, and I began our experience with two intense days of District Leader Training. While there was a lot of information packed into those two days, one of the strongest themes was actually very simple: get back to the basics.

Club excellence and club quality are at the heart of everything we do. When our clubs provide a quality experience, our members benefit, our clubs become stronger, and ultimately, our District becomes stronger.

Another message that resonated with me was, “You don’t have to do it alone.” Leadership is not about one person having all the answers or doing all the work. It is about building a team, asking for help, supporting one another, and remembering that we are all working toward the same goal—helping our members succeed.

The International Convention brought another very special moment for me. I had the honor of walking across the stage to receive the Program Quality Award for our accomplishments last year. While I was the person who walked across that stage, the award truly belonged to our clubs. I am incredibly grateful to the Distinguished, Select Distinguished, President’s Distinguished and Smedley Distinguished clubs whose hard work and commitment to their members made that moment possible. You earned the recognition; I simply had the privilege of accepting it.

Of course, the experience wasn’t all training and awards!

I had the opportunity to participate in the opening ceremonies by carrying the banner for Saint Lucia. I even wore a scarf representing the country, which made the experience even more fun.

I also played Toastmasters Bingo—and won the very first round! Apparently, leadership training wasn’t the only place where I was paying attention.

And then there was the food. We ate very well, enjoyed plenty of good food, and I may have consumed more gelato than necessary. But then again, when you are at an International Convention, calories consumed while networking with Toastmasters from around the world probably shouldn’t count.

I returned home with wonderful memories, new ideas, renewed energy, and an important reminder: strong clubs are built by focusing on the basics, quality matters, and none of us has to do it alone.

That may have been the most important lesson of the entire experience.

District 84 Toastmasters,

It's hard to believe that our first month together has already come to a close. As I reflect on these past few weeks, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve such an incredible district.

I've had the privilege of meeting many of our members, club officers, and leaders, and one thing has become abundantly clear—District 84 is filled with passionate people who are committed to helping others grow.

This first month has been one of learning, listening, planning, and building relationships. While we've already celebrated successes, I know the best is still ahead. Every meeting held, every speech delivered, every new member welcomed, and every act of service strengthens our district and changes lives.

Here are a few:

As we continue this journey together, I encourage each of you to stay engaged, support one another, and look for opportunities to grow as communicators and leaders. Whether you're a brand-new member or a seasoned Toastmaster, you have something valuable to contribute.

Thank you to our club officers, Area Directors, Division Directors, district leaders, and every member who has volunteered your time and talents. Your dedication is what makes District 84 thrive.

I'm excited about what we'll accomplish together in the months ahead. Let's continue building strong clubs, creating meaningful experiences, and inspiring excellence throughout District 84.

Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your District Director.

Together, we'll make this an extraordinary year.

Yours in service,

Welcome to an exciting new Toastmasters year—a time of fresh beginnings, renewed purpose, and endless possibilities!

As we turn the page to a new year, we are reminded that every new beginning is an opportunity to grow, to serve, and to inspire. Change can be both exciting and uncertain, but it is often through transition that we discover our greatest opportunities.

This year marks a special milestone for District 84 as we proudly welcome our fellow Toastmasters from District 48 into our district family. While our paths may have started in different districts, we are now united by a common purpose: empowering individuals to become more confident communicators and stronger leaders.

To our new Toastmasters friends, welcome! We are honored to have you join us and look forward to learning from your experiences, celebrating your achievements, and creating new traditions together. The friendships we build, the ideas we share, and the support we offer one another will strengthen our clubs and our district for years to come.

As we embark on this journey together, let's embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with open minds, open hearts, and a spirit of collaboration. Together, we will grow stronger, reach farther, and achieve more than any of us could alone.

Here's to a year filled with new friendships, meaningful connections, personal growth, and club success. Together, we will make this an unforgettable year for District 84.

Welcome to your District 84 family. Let's make this our strongest year yet!
