The Club Coach program partners experienced Toastmasters with clubs that have fallen below charter strength to help them rebuild. Coaches serve a multi-month assignment — typically appointed in the fall and concluding by the end of the program year — focused on strengthening club operations, membership, and the new-member experience.
What a Club Coach does
- Attends the coached club's meetings regularly to observe and contribute
- Works with the club's officers to set realistic Distinguished Club Program goals
- Mentors the President and VP-Education on meeting structure, agenda quality, and member development
- Helps drive membership-building campaigns, open houses, and guest follow-up
- Files three reports during the assignment (see below)
The three reports
Each assignment includes three reports the coach files online:
- Preliminary Report — filed at the start of the assignment. Captures the club's baseline (membership, recent DCP standing) and the DCP goals the coach intends to target.
- Progress Report — filed every 60 days. Captures current DCP progress, membership numbers, and the coach's initiatives during the period.
- Final Report — filed at the end of the assignment. Summarizes outcomes (Distinguished status achieved, final paid-member count) and looks forward to the club's future needs.
A TI-formatted PDF can be downloaded after each submission. Reports are reviewed and accepted by the Club Coach Chair on behalf of the District Director.
Recognition
A successful Club Coach assignment — where the coached club earns Distinguished status before June 30 — counts toward the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award for the coach (one of the two leadership requirements for DTM). The District also recognizes successful coaches at the District Conference.
How to get involved
Coaches are appointed by the Club Coach Chair on behalf of the District Director. If you'd like to be considered for a coaching assignment — or if your club needs a coach — contact the Club Coach Chair listed on the Leadership page.
